When you make 911 calls using your traditional phone service your call should be traced including routed to a local call center where they should locate you. the is a big plus as it enables them to locate you even if you have trouble communicating; however the is not possible with your VoIP. They absolutely cannot tell in effect where your internet phone call is originating from. With VoIP the data sent should at times be scrambled. the should work fine at the time you are sending e-mail as it should reassemble itself on the other side, but as you should imagine the should be a disadvantage for VoIP as at the time communicating with another individual over the phone it is done in real time. Although there are a few disadvantages to VoIP, many of these disadvantages are been addressed by the VoIp providers. They are constantly working on solutions to resolve these issues.
